For #arthistorystuck, reposting one of my two Magritte takes on Homestuck. This one is called Son of Troll.
Image description under the cut.
Drawing in vector of the classic Magritte Son of Man backdrop - a cloudy sky, a brick wall. In the center of the drawing you see Doc Scratch standing in front of the wall, his round featureless cueball face obscured by a green 6 billards bill. He is wearing his usual suit with green shirt and bowtie, but to the ensemble he has added Dad’s fedora.
Above him is Skaia. It appears that he is holding up a fifth wall - it is the usual design, a frame of punched metal with rivets, with round handle-like coils surrounding the outside, each of them a semicircle. Skaia is straddling the frame; half on on the inside, half on the outside.
On first glance it would appear that Scratch is holding up the fifth wall, but on closer inspection the hands holding the outside of the frame are Andrew Hussie’s. Also on closer inspection, the arms, hands, and torso on the outside of the frame don’t quite align with Scratch. On the outside of the frame the wall is solid instead of brick and without a visible top edge, and the colors are flatter instead of gradients. This visual difference is also seen in the top half of Skaia.
I love this fandom.
